Technology plays a crucial role in our work, from our surveillance equipment, to our forensic examination of seized devices, to supporting our IT network infrastructure.

Our Forensic Practitioners work at the cutting edge of technology, providing technical assistance to investigating officers, through the digital forensic investigation of mobile phones and other digital data services, that have been or are suspected of being used for criminal activity.

To support our cutting edge digital investigations, our Technicians work behind the scenes using some of the most advanced technical equipment available, delivering a stable and reliable infrastructure to ensure that all specialist areas have access to digital tools and capabilities in one of the most demanding and rapidly changing of environments.

What could I be doing?

As a Forensic Practitioner you will provide an expert service to our case teams. You might assist in the seizure and retention of digital devices within a laboratory environment or at premises, for subsequent forensic examination. You may even provide evidential reports to present to Prosecutors and Court. The data you retrieve will be vital to help case teams both in prosecuting criminals, fraudsters and tax cheats, but also in recovering their assets.

As a Technician you will work in a highly specialised and focused IT team, working to maintain a range of high capability and cutting edge IT solutions to support operational delivery, across multiple locations.

Do I have the right skills or qualifications?

Our Forensic Practitioners and Technicians work extensively with computer hardware, operating systems and software such as: Enterprise IT solutions, VMWare, HP Blade infrastructure, ISO 17025 standard, Cellebrite and XRY, to name a few. All are highly motivated, skilled IT staff, who have a keen interest in emerging technologies and a willingness to learn new skills.

Training

Training plays a crucial part in our work here. As well as core training and a structured induction, our staff are often taught by experts. Role specific training includes research and exploitation of digital data and the associated legal provisions.
